About PDF to Word
PDF to Word rebuilds a PDF — or a photograph of a page — as an editable DOCX document, reconstructing paragraphs, headings and tables, and reading scanned pages by recognition first.
A PDF does not contain paragraphs. It contains instructions to put particular glyphs at particular coordinates, and turning that back into a document means working out, from position and size and spacing alone, what was a heading, what was a paragraph, what was a table and where one column ended.
Two ways of guessing are offered. Flowing text rebuilds the document as ordinary paragraphs that wrap and can be edited comfortably — right for something you intend to rewrite. Keep the layout holds things closer to where they sat on the page — right for something you only need to touch up, and stiffer to edit.
A scanned page has no glyphs at all, only a picture of them, so those pages are read by recognition first. That works well on clean scans and less well on faint or skewed ones, and the result says which pages were read that way, because names and numbers are exactly what you should check.
