About PDF to Image

PDF to Image renders the pages you pick as JPG images, at the resolution and quality you set, one image per page.

Each page you pick is drawn at the resolution you set and saved as a JPG. Resolution is the setting that decides everything else: 72 DPI is a screen thumbnail, 150 is comfortable on a display, 300 is what a printer wants. The file size follows the square of that number, so doubling the resolution roughly quadruples the result.

Quality is JPEG’s own trade. At the default it is hard to see the difference from the page; pushed low it saves a great deal of size and starts to show as soft haloes around the type, which is where JPEG always fails first. For a page of text with sharp edges, PDF to PNG is the better format.

Pages come out as separate images, numbered in order, and a set of them is handed back as a zip.
