About Pattern maker
Pattern maker repeats one shape — circles, triangles, hexagons, half and quarter circles, lines — across a grid in your colors, for a background, a print or a texture, at any size.
The first color is the background; every shape takes one of the others, mixed across the grid. Shapes across sets how many fit along the long side, and Shape size how much of its cell each one fills — at 100% they touch. Filled or Outline, with a line width for outlines, and Rotation turns the whole grid.
Turn at random gives each shape a random quarter turn. On squares it changes nothing; on half and quarter circles and lines it is what makes a maze of arcs and diagonals out of a plain grid, the oldest trick in pattern design. Offset rows shifts every other row by half a shape, as bricks are laid. Variation reshuffles the colors and the turns, and the same number always gives the same pattern.
